Preparing Your Publication For Web Printing
PDF is the preferred format to receive your publication. If your PDF is distilled correctly, it enables us to produce your publication in a consistent, high-quality manner (Please refer to our guide below for proper distiller settings). However, if corrections are required, it is our policy that you resubmit your PDF with the necessary changes.
We accept Black and White (Grayscale) and Color (must be CMYK). Please note RGB photos will not print in "true" colors.
We will not color-correct photos unless you have approved it. We are not responsible for the printing quality of outside adjusted photos. If you have any technical questions regarding your photos, please give your Mattos customer service representative a call.
We use 85-line screen for color images and grayscale images. Image resolution should be a minimum of one-and-a-half of that, for example, 150-200 dpi for grayscale/CMYK files running at 100% and at least 600 dpi for line art, depending on the original's quality.
If you are using InDesign, make sure to choose "Adobe PDF (Print)" under Format in the PDF export dialog. Next, make sure "Press Quality" is selected as the Adobe PDF Preset. Finally, go to the output tab > ink manager and choose "All Spots to Process."
If you are using other software such as Quark and exporting files to Acrobat Distiller, please choose "Press Quality" in the job options.
Previewing Your Files
We recommend that you check the color separations of your files in Acrobat prior to sending (go to Tools > Print Production > Output Preview). This will allow you to preview the individual plates and make sure everything is correctly separating.
